HUIPPU is a Helsinki-based Finnish contemporary folk band formed in autumn 2023. The six members are close friends who share a love for contemporary folk music, but also bring influences from outside the tradition to their music. In just a few years, HUIPPU has made a strong mark on the Nordic folk scene and has received international recognition through performances at festivals such as the Shetland Folk Festival (UK) and Paléo Festival (CH).
HUIPPU's debut album, Haikankärki (2025), presents their distinctive sound: fresh tunes and catchy melodies inspired by traditional folk and pop music. Their second album, Huiputusta (2026), takes this driving sound further, featuring fierce fiddling, moments of tranquility, surging walls of sound, amazing drum fills, unstoppable grooves... and a swallow's first flight – you name it!
